Maggie Lea Shoffner Coble


    CARY, N.C. — Mrs. Maggie Lea Shoffner Coble, 89, of Woodland Terrace in Cary, N.C., formerly of Scythe Road, Julian, N.C., died peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
    A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Shoffner and the late Nora Greeson Shoffner and was married to Paul Warren Coble of Cary and Julian, N.C. Maggie was a talented homemaker, a skilled seamstress, and a gifted cook, who dedicated her entire life to taking care of her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother; the true definition of Proverbs 31 virtuous woman. Active in her church, she was a lifetime member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ in Whitsett, N.C.
Survivors include her faithful husband of 68 year, Paul Warren Coble; two sons, Wes Coble and wife, Becky, of Raleigh and Bob Coble and wife, Jean, of Garner; three grandchildren, Tammie Stagnitta and Jana Yon of Fuquay-Varina, and Brian Coble of Garner; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mazie Coulman of Stafford, Va. and Osa Rea McAdoo of Greensboro; three brothers, Richard Shoffner of McLeanville, Thomas Shoffner and Leonard Shoffner of Burlington.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Georgia May, Swannie Belle Johnson and Elizabeth Staley.
    A graveside service will be conducted at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ cemetery on Thursday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Kristin Gerner Vaughn. Mrs. Coble will lie in state in the church sanctuary, beginning at 10 a.m. until time for the service. The family will receive friends and family in the church fellowship hall following the service.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, 2400 Mt. Hope Church Road, Whitsett, N.C. 27377 or to Hospice of Wake County Foundation, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, N.C. 27607.
    Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.
