SURPRISE BIRTHDAY DINNER GIVEN MRS. ISLEY.
On Sunday, March 10, the children and grandchildren of Mrs. J. W. H. Isley gave her a surprise birthday dinner at the home of her daughter on Route No. 7. It was quite a surprise to her. The day was spent in joy and happiness. The cars began to come in at 11 o'clock. The dinner was spread in picnic style. The birthday cake was beautiful with its 66 candles of pink and gold, baked by Mrs. O. A. Isley. The table was loaded down with everything good to eat, and it was greatly enjoyed. Mrs. Isley received several useful presents. The day was spent in talking and joking and making pictures.
Those present for the occasion Mr. and Mrs. Connie Sharp and children, Mr. and Mrs. Landry Watkins and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Andrews and family, of Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Will Isley and family, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Isley and family, Mr. and Mrs. Garmon Isley, Mr. and Mrs. Walker Allison and family, all of No. 7.

FUNERAL HELD FOR MRS. ALICE ISLEY
Mrs. Alice Isley, aged 69 years, wife of the late John W. Isley, died yesterday afternoon at 4:10 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maud Sharp, East Burlington, following illness of several days.
Funeral service was held this afternoon at 2:30 at Friendship M. P. church by Rev. W. M. Loy, assisted by Rev. H. L. Isley, and burial made in the church cemetery.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Maud Sharp, Mrs. Flossie Watkins and Mrs. Vergia Allison, and W. L. Isley, Burlington, and O. A. Isley, Swepsonville; and by 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
