Bill Brockton Durham



BURLINGTON – Mr. Bill Brockton Durham, age 85, of Burlington, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Guilford County, he was the son of the late Rufus L. Durham and the late Anne Leak Durham and was married for over 30 years to Mrs. Rachel Keatts Durham, who survives.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Dow Chemical after 29 years of service and was a member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church. Bill was active in sports during his younger years loved to travel and was an avid golfer, scoring his first hole-in-one at age 80. He was a man that never met a stranger and loved to interact with people.
Mr. Durham is survived by his wife of the home; a son, Billy Durham of Greensboro; two daughters, Janet Bates of Burlington and Andrea (Bill) Swinson of Gibsonville; four grandchildren, Katherine Durham, Chad Huffman, Katherine Beckom and Brysen Bates; a brother, James (Jane) Durham of Charlotte; and his best friend, Jerry (Miriam) Campbell of Greensboro.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Don Pegg. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service and other times at the residence.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Alamance Regional Critical Care Unit for their exceptional and loving care of Bill during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church, 1106 E Morehead St, Burlington, NC 27215.
