JULY 11, 1930 ~ OCTOBER 16, 2019 (AGE 89)
Edgar Allen “Ed” Smith, 89, of Haw River passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
A native of Orange County, he was the husband of the late Dual Thomas Smith and the late Edna Bradsher Smith and the son of Percy E. Smith and Bettie Terry Smith, both deceased. Mr. Smith was a retired training supervisor with Culp Fabrics. Ed was a member of Salem United Methodist Church where he served as a former Sunday School Teacher and former Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a former member of the Administrative Board and Lay Leader of the church.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Smith of Charlotte and Mike Smith of Haw River; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Ed was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Bradshaw; son, Douglas Smith; one sister and ten brothers.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
The funeral service will be conducted at Salem United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Benjamin Wolf. Burial will follow in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church Youth, 4471 Salem Church Road, Haw River, NC 27258.
