James Edgar “Ed” Austin Sr.
 

 
 GRAHAM — Mr. James Edgar “Ed” Austin Sr., 97, of 218 Ward Street, Graham, died suddenly at his residence on Sunday, August 7, 2011.
 
 A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Ella Vay Jenkins Austin and the son of James M. “Buck” Austin and Effie Cobb Austin, both deceased. Ed operated two service stations in Burlington for approximately 25 years and retired from Auto Parts and Electric Sales. He was the oldest member at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a former trustee. He loved to play Setback and was well known for pitching horseshoes.
 
 Survivors include two sons, J. E. “Sam” Austin Jr. of Graham and Arthur “Art” Austin of Burlington; two brothers, Dexter P. Austin of Burlington and Leon Austin of Florida; seven grandchildren, Allyson Austin, JoAnne Spoon, Bobby Austin, Steve Austin, Terri Webster, Kevin Long and David Long; 11 great- grandchildren; and five great-greatgrandchildren.
 
 He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Long; four sisters, Rosa Wrenn, Hazel Longest, Jo Ann McGuire and Luzene Johnson; and two brothers, Claude Allen Austin and Norman T. Austin.
 
 The funeral service will be conducted at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. by Dr. TommyWillis. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
 
 The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
