Nellie Barts Hamlett
LEASBURG, N.C. — Nellie Barts Hamlett, 79, of 1461 N.C. Hwy. 119 North, passed away at her home Wednesday, August 10, 2011 following a short illness.
She was born in Caswell County on Feb. 26, 1932 to Elder Lee Barts and Flora Carmichael Barts. She was educated in Caswell County Schools, was a loving housewife and a member of Griers Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Griers Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Richard LaDew and the Rev. Joe Jackson, with interment following in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert A. (Pete) Hamlett, of the home; daughter, Wanda H. Butts and husband Ronnie of Leasburg; sons, James H. Hamlett and special friend Ruth Dameron, Bob Hamlett and wife Cindy of Greensboro and Dwight Hamlett of Leasburg, brother R.D. Barts of Cedar Grove and Earl Barts of Bladen, N.C., seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ersell Byrd; brother, Curnell L. Barts; and grandson, Christopher L. Hamlett.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
