Obituary Online notes for Bennie Carol FOGLEMAN
On Tuesday February 19, 2019 Bennie Carol Fogleman O’Kelley (our loving GG) went home to dwell with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bennie was preceded in death by her husband Harold Gene O’Kelley, mother and step-father Elda Huffines Fogleman Walker and Maurice Walker, father Alvis V. Fogleman, son-in-law Martin Curtis and brother Maurice Walker, Jr.
Bennie was born June 9, 1935 and grew up in Gibsonville, NC. She graduated Salutatorian from Gibsonville High School in 1953 and went on to attend East Carolina College. This is where she met her husband Harold G. O’Kelley. Harold and Bennie were married December 18, 1955 and after Harold graduated from East Carolina they moved to High Point where they lived, worked and raised their family until their death.
Bennie worked many years in the Accounting Department of Alderman Studios. After Alderman closed she worked with Omega Studios then several privately owned companies as a bookkeeper. Bennie loved to dance and upon her retirement she joined other ladies and they traveled Guilford County line-dancing to the enjoyment of many.
Bennie was a faithful servant to the Lord. She was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church since her arrival in High Point in 1956 and a member of the Augsburg Sunday School Class and Rachel Circle.
Surviving are her children Connie (Randy), Julie, and Scott (Windy), grandchildren James (Courtney), Stan (Sharon), Amber (John), and Colin and great-grandchildren Taylor, Landen, Madison, Cameron, Kennedy, McKayla and Aiden. Sisters Becky Roberts, Nancy Shepherd, Betty Matherly, brother Stephen C. Fogleman, sister-in-law Carolyn Hendrick and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
GG loved her family. She was always there when we needed a listening ear, a word of encouragement, forgiveness and always a chicken pie.
A special thank you to The Manor – Hall’s 300 and 500 Nursing Staff and to Hospice of the Piedmont.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1401 Heathcliff Road, High Point, NC. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 1:45 pm and service at 2:00 pm. Private family internment at Floral Gardens following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials to your church, the National Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice or your favorite charity can be made in Bennie’s memory.
