GRAHAM – Mr. Bobby Y. Pickard, 79, of Graham, passed away at the Hospice Home on Saturday, December 31, 2016.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 57 years to Betsy May Pickard, who survives and the son of John Dewey Pickard and Margaret York Pickard, both deceased.
Mr. Pickard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from GKN.
He was an avid golfer and he also worked at Southwick Golf Course. He was a member of Alamance Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a daughter, Karen P. Liddle and husband Jimmy of Graham; a son, Gary Dean Pickard and wife Donna of Whitsett; five grandchildren, Jay Liddle, Christy Liddle, Brian Canada and wife Susan, Jeremy Watkins, and Heather Gerald and husband Donald; five greatgrandchildren; a sister, Lib Roupe; and a brother, Richard Pickard.
Mr. Pickard was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Pickard and two brothers, Don Pickard and David Pickard.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 4 p.m. by Rev. Ron Philabaum and Rev. Bobby Hawkins.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
