GRAHAM - Mr. Gilbert H. Pore Sr., 82, of 779 Woody Drive, formerly of 111 Maple Ave., Burlington, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Rehabilitation and Health Care of Alamance, after 10 months of declining health and two weeks of critical illness.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, conducted by the Rev. Curtis Oakley and the Rev. Norman Fargis.
A native of Orange County, he was the son of the late John Franklin Pore and the late Mamie Shifton Pore . He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Jim H. Murray Grading Co.
Survivors are his four daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Doris) Searcy of Graham, Ms. Susan Pore of Burlington, Mrs. Palmer (Donna) Newcomer of Graham, Ms. Wanda Pore Wrenn of Burlington; four sons, Mr. Larry W. Pore and wife, Hilda of Orange, Calif., Mr. Gilbert H. Pore Jr. and wife, Betty of Mebane, Mr. Phillip L. Pore and wife, Marion of Haw River, Mr. Mickey Pore and wife, Lynda of Siler City; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Fitts Pore , who died Oct. 11, 1993; son, Mr. Jerry F. Pore ; and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at McClure Funeral Home, Graham and at other times at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Doris Searcy, 1847 Bethany Drive, Graham.
