On June 16,1963 he married Rachael Byrley, who preceeded him in death on May 26,1975. Sonny was a farmer and a lifetime resident of Guilford County. He is survived by his mother: Geneva; a daughter: Kimberly Dawn May; three sons: Kenneth David May, John Phillip May, and Richard Millhouse May; four sisters: Esther Daniels, Edna Shue, Ethel Shue and Verona Ward; and four brothers: Howard May, Dillard May, Mitchell May and Warren May.
