MAYWilliam Ezra May, son of Saphrel and Elizabeth May, was born at Melrose, Iowa, October 2, 1866, and died at his home in Chariton, Iowa, on February 22, 1945, at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 20 days.Mr. May was the youngest of a family of ten children, all of whom have preceded him in death.His parents came to Iowa from Indiana in a covered wagon. He lived at Melrose, in Monroe county, until 1914, and at that time he moved to Chariton to make his home with his sister.On September 2, 1925, he was married to Bertha May, of Indiana, who survives him.Mr. May was employed for 19 years with the C. B. and Q. Railway Company, prior to his retirement.His father was a long time United Brethren church member. William was converted during a tent meeting in Chariton. He then united with the United Brethren church and remained a member until his death, being a faithful attendant at the church services.Besides his wife he is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.Funeral services, conducted by his pastor, Rev. John E. Dowd, of the U. B. church, were conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the United Brethren church and burial was made in the Chariton cemetery.Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
