Melvin Morris York Sr. BURLINGTON — Mr. Melvin Morris York Sr., 92, of Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at 10:25 p.m.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Virginia H. York, who survives and the son of Oliver Edgar York and Hazel Joy Fogleman York, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force and sales representative for 37 years with International Salt Company. Melvin was a member of Trinity Worship Center.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a daughter, Sue Y. MacCrae and husband Ronnie; son, Melvin M. “Buddy” York Jr. and wife Kathy; one granddaughter; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and sister, Virginia Gerringer.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Craig York and a brother, Wayne York.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Darrell Cox with the family receiving friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bellemont United Methodist Church Cemetery. At other times the family will be at the residence.
