BURLINGTON — Virginia Higgins York, 90, of Burlington passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell.
Virginia was born in Alamance County on October 27, 1925, the daughter of the late John Higgins and Lula Johnson Higgins. She was a homemaker all of her life and was a Charter Member of Trinity Worship Center. She was married to Melvin York Sr. for 72 years who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by one son Steven Craig York, brothers Henry and Bill Higgins and sister Rose H. Guthrie.
Surviving are one son Buddy York and wife Kathy of Burlington; a daughter Sue MacCrae and husband Ronnie of Burlington; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a special niece Nancy Steel as well as other nieces and nephews and many friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Trinity Worship Center. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Bellemont United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorials be made to The Alzheimers Foundation of America. 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Fl, New York, NY 10001.
