GRAHAM – Evelyn Jones Sharpe, 90, died peacefully at the Hospice Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.
She was born October 25, 1926 to the late James and Ruby Jones and wife of 68 years to the late Harry Sharpe.
Evelyn was born in Durham, NC and a resident of Graham, NC.
She was employed in the textile industry for much of her life and retired to be a full time homemaker and beloved mother and grandmother. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and a former member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church.
She was a devoted Christian and gained much pleasure from her church volunteer work over the years. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, and most recently her great granddaughter, Lyla Kate. She was very proud of all of them and they made her so happy.
Evelyn is survived by sons, Larry and wife Gay and Rodney and wife Sandy, all of Burlington; grandchildren, Logan and wife Emily of Elon, Orin and Corey, both of Charlotte; great-granddaughter, Lyla Kate; two step-grandchildren, Callum Brown and wife Ashleigh of Burlington and Travis Brown and wife Alexis of Powder Springs, GA; three step great grandchildren, Gracie and Emma Brown of Burlington and Paul Brown of Powder Springs, GA; and sister, Edith Boswell and husband Gene of Graham, NC.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Juanita Harris, Pauline Long and Lucille Tuttle and brother, Buddy Jones.
A special thanks to her caregivers, Della Nickerson, Lillian Trollinger, Kay Way, Penny Butler, Peggy Johnson and Peggy Burnette for their devotion and gentle care of Evelyn during the past two years, as well as Teressa Campbell and the Hospice staff.
Services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park.
The service will be conducted by Rev. Bob Stephenson. Other times the family will be at her residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, 1568 East Harden Street, Graham, NC 27253 or to the Hospice Home, C/O Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
