Gladys Stout Thompson

August 1, 1929 ~ June 24, 2022 (age 92)

Gladys Stout Thompson, 92 of Graham, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late James C. Wood and the late Elmer B. Thompson and the daughter of the late Jesse Everett Stout and the late Mary Bailey Stout. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she formerly served as the Sunday school secretary.

Gladys was a stay at home mom that raised 5 children. She was best known for her cooking, especially her cakes, pies and her famous fried apple pies. Rarely did you visit her and you never left without something to eat. She loved gardening (by the acre!), harvesting and preparing the vegetables for her family and neighbors. She was an avid quilter and made her quilts the old fashion way.

She is survived by her children, Earl Wood and his wife Diane, Jimmy Wood and his wife Sandra, Blair Thompson and his wife Myra and Cathy Odell and her husband Mike; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Wood Quakenbush, 4 sisters and 6 brothers.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Snow Camp. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ms. Dean, Ms. Dorthy and Always Best Care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Collective Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or Bethel United Methodist Church, 6364 Snow Camp Road, Snow Camp, NC 27349. 261, Gladys Stout Thompson
