Obituary Online notes for Aubrey McKiver SOMERS
Aubrey McKiver Somers, 86, of Pennrose Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Hester officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Cemetery with military graveside rites.
Aubrey was born in Sanford, NC on November 27, 1925 to the late Luther Somers and Sallie Gill Somers. He served in the US Navy as a signalman during WWII. He lived most of his life in Reidsville, was of the Baptist Faith, loved to dance and was a great outdoorsman loving the game of golf, quail hunting and fishing. He was employed several years for the Tobacco Stabilization , and retired as a supervisor from Colonial Pipeline Gas, and was also a building contractor.
He is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Marilyn Massey Somers, son, Aubrey Wayne Somers and partner, Darla Kester; grandchildren, Claudia and Chris; sister, Jane Gooch; sister-in-law, Louise Somers.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Somers and wife, Marion, Wallace Somers and wife, Hilda, and Polo Somers; siste, Marion Greenleaf.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, September 30 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Other times the family will be at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Community Baptist Church, Community Baptist School , 509 Triangle Road, Reidsville, NC 27320 or charity of donor's choice.
