Kenneth W. "Jack" GwynMr. K. W. "Jack" Gwyn, 83, of 2625 Catherine Drive, Burlington, died at his residence on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at 10:05 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Nannie Lou Gwyn, who survives and the son of Banks L. Gwyn, father, Lola Iris Watson Fogleman, mother and Grady M. Fogleman, stepfather, all deceased.
He was a salesman for 45 years at Sumner's Automotive and a volunteer at Alamance Regional Medical Center. In 1973, he was Booster of the Year for Williams High School. Jack was an avid Carolina fan and a UNC usher for over 10 years. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid racing enthusiast. He was also a supporter of Relay For Life . Jack was a member of the First Christian United Church of Christ for over 50 years where he served on numerous committees and was a member of the Iris McEwen Class.

n addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a daughter, Linda Smith and husband Mike of Burlington; son, Ronnie Wade Gwyn and wife Crane of Hilton Head Island, SC; two grandchildren, Heather Smith Carson and Brian Alan Smith; six great-grandchildren, Aaliya and Aubrey Carson, Abbi and Rebekah Brandenburg, Grayson Holt and Porter Smith; a brother, Donald B. Gwyn and wife Dorothy of Jamestown; and two nephews, Michael Gwyn and Danny Gwyn.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Devon Carson, Jr.
The funeral service will be conducted at the First Christian United Church of Christ on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Mark Pickett. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian United Church of Christ, 415 South Church Street, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Hospice League of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice for their care and support and specifically to Beverly Herning, Vickey Barnett and Loudelle King.
