Greensboro – Mrs. Mary Magdelene Green Brown of Carriage House passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 on to her heavenly home.
A native of Guilford County, the only child of the late Ira Wilbur Green and Eva Washburn Green. She was born on June 4, 1921.
She married her high school sweetheart on April 17, 1940, the late John Franklin Brown and was married 54 1/2 years and they had 2 sons.
John passed away on August 26, 1994. She was a lifetime homemaker and loved her crafts, gardening and reading her Bible. She made many quilts, scarves and dishrags, which she loved to give to everyone. Her first she love was being an active and devoted member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of Couples For Christ Class for over 50 years, served on the Long Range Committee and a long time member of the Women's Day Circle and a member of the choir. After her health failed she moved to Abbotswood Retirement Center and continued to go on to Apple's with the loving support of Shirley Jones picking her up, special thanks to you Shirley for all your kind deeds. Then she had to move on to Carriage House Assisted Living, but kept her morning worship with Pastor Danny Joyner and his wife Lelia. She had to move on to Memory Care Unit where Pastor Joyner has service there also.
There will be no home visit at this time. If you would visit a loved one, be it family or friend, someone in a nursing home or take food to someone who has no food or it would be a good and a deed well done.
The family will have visitation at Apple's Chapel Christian Church on Wednesday, February 19th, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A memorial service and Celebration of her Life will follow, officiated by Reverend C. Allen Myers III and assisted by Pastor Eric Dudley and Pastor Danny Joyner. Interment will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Lakeview Memorial Park on Hwy 29, Greensboro, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Wilbur Green and Eva Washburn Green and husband, John Franklin Brown.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Brown and wife Ann and Mike Brown and wife Terrie and 2 grandsons, Steven Brown and Jeff Brown. 470, Mary Magdelene Green Brown
