BURLINGON — Mr. Alton R. Bowman, 78, of Burlington died at the Hospice Home on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at 8:30 a.m.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Joan Robertson Bowman and the son of H.L. “Mutt” Bowman and Betty Arrington Bowman, both deceased. He was a retired auto mechanic and of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Victoria Bowman Whitlow and husband Stanley of Burlington; son, Michael Bowman and wife Shari of Haw River; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Anne Bowman of Burlington; sister-in-law, Anne H. Brewer and partner Allen Casey of Graham; and nephew, Clint Horner and wife Stefanie of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Andi Logan Black.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Saturday,
January 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Larry Janey with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
