Benjamin Thomas Brooks
ELON — Benjamin “Benny” Thomas Brooks, 57, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015.
He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Robert Louis and Sadie Faye Moser Brooks.
Benny retired from GKN and was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church and he attended Glencoe Baptist Church. He received several degrees, graduating from Elon University with honors and from ACC with honors for academic accomplishments. Benny was a 1975 graduate of Southern High School where he was the State Wrestling Champ, setting a record that has remained unbroken. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include his daughters, Miranda (Teddy) Carter and Ginger (Tech Sgt. Michael) Gisi; mother of his children, Denise Cheek; grandchildren, Annabelle and Madilynn Carter and Livia Gisi; sister, Cindy Foust (Allen Roney); brothers, Mike (Sheila) Brooks, Kenneth (Phyllis) Brooks, Richard (Mila) Brooks,
George
Brooks, Teddy (Vickie) Brooks, Jeffrey (Sherry) Brooks and Tim (Debbie) Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-inlaw, Jay Foust.
A service to celebrate his life will be conducted Sunday, April 26, 2015, at 2
p.m.in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Darrell Massey. Burial will follow in the Cedar Cliff UMC cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
