Velma Marie Haithcock


    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Velma Marie Haithcock, 88, formerly of Sharpe Road, Burlington died at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro on Tuesday, October 13, 2009.
    A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of William Hobart Hunt and Annie Jewel Whitesell Hunt, both deceased. She retired from the textile industry and was a member of Powerline Nazarene Church.
    Survivors include five daughters, Lydia Bryant and husband W. H. and Donna Carter and husband Sterling, all of Elon, Bernice Williams and husband Johnny of Haw River, Glenda Carter and husband Bobby and Amy Starr and husband John, all of Snow Camp; one son, William Haithcock of Charlotte; five grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and six greatstepgrandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilton H. “Dick” Hunt.
    The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m.
    Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
