Mrs. Norma  Whitesell Mitchell 

    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Norma  Whitesell Mitchell , age 76, of 1323 Springdale Dr. Burlington passed away at 6:15 p.m. Saturday December 10, 2005, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

    A native of Alamance County, she was wife of the late James Donald Mitchell  and daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha McIntyre Whitesell.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elon where she was an officer in the UMW and ladies circle, was a member of the Chancel Choir, Senior Choir and song leader for the Wesleyan Class. Mrs. Mitchell  retired as Executive Secretary to the President of Tower Mills.

    Survivors include 2 sons, David Lynn Mitchell  and wife Joy of Mebane and Jonathan W. Mitchell  and wife Wanda of Burlington; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Vaughn and husband Michael of Graham and James David Mitchell  of N.Y.,N.Y.; 2 great grandchildren, Ashley Vaughn and Isley Vaughn; sister, Mrs. Margaret Curtis of Gibsonville.

She was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Hilda Whitaker, Inez Hinshaw, Roy Whitesell, Morris Whitesell, Raymond Whitesell and Pauline Small.

    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 13, 2005 at First United Methodist Church of Elon by Rev. Terry Huffines.

Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Mitchell  will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday and at other times, the home of her son, Jon Mitchell , 1413 McCuiston Dr., Burlington.

    Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Elon; 1639 Westbrook Dr., Elon, NC 27244.
