July 20, 1931 ~ September 24, 2020 (age 89)
Mr. George R. “Bobby” Whitesell, 89, of Kimesville Road, Burlington passed away at his residence on Thursday, September 24, 2020.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Janie Crouse Whitesell, who survives and the son of Junius George Whitesell and Hattie Whitfield Whitesell, both deceased.
Mr. Whitesell was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict and a retired general contractor. He was a member of the Homebuilders Association. Bobby was a lifetime member of St. Mark’s Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a member of the Cemetery Committee at the church and the Christian Workers’ Sunday School Class.
In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include a daughter, Lynn Whitesell Moore and husband Charles of Burlington; a brother, Jack Whitesell (JoAnn) of Charlotte; two grandsons, Jacob Moore and Patrick Moore; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, David R. Whitesell; an infant daughter; two brothers, Charles Whitesell and Harold Whitesell; and a sister, Willa Gray McQueen.
A graveside service will be conducted at St. Mark’s Church Cemetery on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
