Hilda Deneece Whitesell Hodge
Hilda Deneece Whitesell Hodge, 84, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 8, 2022.
She was born in Guilford County to the late Otis Benjamin Whitesell and Grace Helene Smith Whitesell and was married for almost 66 years to William Frank “Bill” Hodge, Jr. who died on August 16, 2022.
Deneece was a loyal member of New Hope Baptist Church where she loved singing in the choir every Sunday. She worked in the Navy Exchange at every opportunity wherever Bill was stationed. She also enjoyed her years at Roche Biomedical Laboratories until her retirement. Her hobbies were gardening, cooking, crocheting, and most of all, spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, David Hodge (Junko), Jeffrey Hodge (Cindy), Kim H. Sellars (Baxter); grandchildren, Pamala, Sarah, Alice, Nolan, Hannah, and Callie; great grandchildren, Jayden, Ava, Tegan, Scout, Goldie, and Eliza; and sisters, Paula Mogle, Iris Trent (Joe).
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Hobbs. Private interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
