James “Howard” Loy
McLEANSVILLE — James “Howard” Loy, 57, of 401 Knox Road, a lifelong farmer, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all, died August 11, 2003, at his home after nine months of failing health. He was born in Guilford County to the late Russell B. Loy and Ruby Heath Loy who survives and husband to Bonnie Cobb Loy of 38 years.
Mr. Loy was a lifelong member of Friedens Lutheran Church where he was a past member of the Church Council, Cemetery Committee, a Sunday School Superintendent and a Teacher. He was a retired member of the McLeansville Fire Department with more than 20 years of service in firefighting, past Chairman of the Board of Directors with more than 20 years of service, past member of McLeansville Wildlife Club, past member of Farm Credit Nominating Committee and member of Guilford County Farmers Organization.
Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Gibsonville include daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Doug Hinton, Pam and Michael Clapp all of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Katie Hinton, Emily Hinton, Hunter Hinton, Jacob Clapp and Mikaela Clapp; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmie and Kathryn Loy, Edward and Lynne Loy, Donny Loy and friend, Bonnie Coggins, all of Gibsonville; sisters and brother-in-law, Frances Loy of Gibsonville, Patty and Ken Andrews of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his father and daughter, Christy Loy.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Friedens Lutheran Church by the Rev. Kristina Johnson and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM tonight at Friedens Lutheran Church and other times at the residence.
