BURLINGTON — Mrs. Helen Anderson Somers, 63, of 2025 Lakeview Drive, died at
3:10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at her home after eight months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. John Donald Somers Sr., who
survives, and the daughter of Mrs. Sallie Barts Anderson, who survives, and the late Mr.
Felix Anderson. She was formerly employed with Rental Uniform and was recently
employed by Sue-Lynn Textiles in Haw River. She was a member of Hopedale Christian
Church and the Shallow Ford Squares.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and mother of Burlington include two
daughters, Mrs. Henry (Donna) Vines Jr. of Snow Camp and Mrs. David C. (Robin)
Wicker Jr. of Graham; a son, Mr. John Donald Somers Jr. of the home; four sisters, Mrs.
Joyce A. Viers of Burlington, Mrs. Rachel A. Pegg of Haw River, Mrs. Brenda Kay A.
Todd of Graham and Mrs. Phyllis A. Reynolds of Reidsville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Charlotte Anderson; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev.
Bennie Smith, pastor of Staley Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance
Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening and at other times at the
home.
