Ralph “Reid” Huskey, age 65, of Yanceyville, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2023 after several months of failing health.
He was the son of the late Clyde and Bonnie Somers Huskey.
Reid was a sub-contractor for many years and enjoyed working on various projects, including helping build his son’s home. He attended Oakview Church along with his family. Reid retired as Deputy Chief of the Cherry Grove Fire Department after 22 years of service. Reid was a member of the Cherry Grove Bassmaster’s for numerous years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandsons.
Reid is survived by sons, Ralph “Chip” Huskey, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Yanceyville and David Huskey and wife, Ashley of Stokesdale; grandsons, Anthony and Truitt Huskey.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Oakview Church Cemetery by Rev. Todd Harris and Rev. Darrell Massey. The honorary pallbearers for the service will be Fireman from the Cherry Grove and Anderson Fire Departments.
Reid will be available for public viewing from 10-5:00 PM Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will be at the home of his son, Chip Huskey at other times.
