ELON — Sara Marie Coleman Barnes, 73, of 2337 Pitt Road, died Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
She was married to the late Wayne Jennings Barnes and was the daughter of the late James and Lucy Gerringer Coleman.
She was a native of Alamance County, the owner and operator of Barnes Hosiery Mill.
She loved playing bingo and word searches and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sheila Barnes of Elon, Raymond "Randy" and Carolyn Barnes of Cana, Va., Robert and Lisa Barnes of Charlotte, N.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Hattie and Marshall Mebane of Burlington, Linda Diane and Jimmy Wrenn of Snow Camp, Donna Barnes of Burlington, Angela and Douglas Drum of Raleigh, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-inlaw, Betty Guthrie of Burlington, Ella and Rufus Joyce of Burlington; brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Judy Coleman of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Pamela Barnes Turner; a brother, Tommy Coleman; and her twin sister, Clara Lewis.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jeanne Neal. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and other times at the home.
