Linda “Vickye” G. Somers, 76, of Elon, NC passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home on Monday, August 5, 2024 following several years of declining health.
Born in Halifax County, NC, she lived most of her life in Elon, NC in Caswell County.
She was the wife of the late Charles F. Somers, Jr. and the daughter of Thomas Luther Glosson and Mary Bet Crutchfield Glosson Tate, both deceased.
She was a graduate of Walter Williams High School. Vickye was formerly employed with United Sprinkler in Graham, Old Dominion Box Company as a bookkeeper, and J. R. Tobacco as a sales clerk. She was a member of St. Mark’s Community Church.
Survivors include two sons, Charles F. “Chuck” Somers, III and wife Norah of Whitsett and David J. Somers and wife Amanda of Washington, NC; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Glosson, Frances Glosson, and Carol Ann Wade; and brother-in-law, Donald “Don” Somers and wife Wanda.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Hubbard and husband Edlyn; brothers, Larry T. Glosson, Wade Glosson and wife Nancy, and William D. “Bill” Glosson; sister-in-law, Gloria S. Briggs; and brother-in-law, Dennis Wade.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. by Pastor Ben Bishop. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
