BURLINGTON - Paul Whitley, 79, passed away on February 11,2021 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. A funeral service will be held on Monday February 15, 2021 at 11am in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham. The family will receive friends from 10am-11am on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at

Paul Wesley Whitley

July 16, 1941 ~ February 11, 2021 (age 79)

Paul Wesley Whitley, 79, of Burlington, passed away on February 11, 2021 at The Hospice Home of Burlington after a brief illness.  He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 29 years to Mary Jarrett Whitley, who survives.  
Paul worked for Burlington Industries for 42 years, starting at the Pioneer Plant and eventually moving to the Reidsville Plant and retired in 2003.  He attended Haw River United Church of Christ (later called Haw River Christian Church and now The Lamb’s Chapel) where he professed his faith and was born again on Sunday, June 27, 1965.  He joined the church on July 4, 1965 and was baptized on September 26, 1965.   He later moved his membership to Bible Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and enjoyed activities such as Brunswick stews and gospel singing.  He loved his church family and they loved him.  Paul was a US Navy Veteran.  He enjoyed family gatherings with his Sisters, Aunts, and Cousins to talk about the old days.   His greatest joy was his grandchildren.  He had seven grandsons and six great-grandchildren.  
Survivors include his wife, Mary J. Whitley of the home; daughter, Kathy W. Walker of Haw River; son Roger D. Whitley (Michelle) of Siler City, daughter, Angela W. Coble (Brooks) of Julian, daughter, Paula W. Elliott (Mark) of Kernersville; sister, Erlene W. Williams of Graham; sister, Melba W. Anderson (Wesley) of Haw River; grandsons, Matthew Walker of Raleigh, Luke Walker of Greensboro, Caleb Whitley of Graham, Ethan and Garrett Coble of Julian and Nicholas and Seth Creed of Greensboro.  He was preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Esther Whitley, brothers Melvin and Willard Whitley and wife, Hazel Kiser Whitley.  
Visitation will be held at McClure Funeral Home on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.  Service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am by Rev. Kevin Bunn and Rev. David Jackson with interment following the service at Graham Memorial Park.
