Virginia "Ginger" Summers Payne, 74, of 7648 NC Hwy 61 North, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 8, 2011 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Guilford County to the late Robert Luther Summers, Sr. and Alma Kate Apple Summers and was married to John Henry Payne, who survives.
She was a member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband of the home; sons, Randy Payne and his wife Tina of Brown Summit, Greg Payne of the home; daughter, Wendy Payne of the home; grandchildren, Michael and Ethan Payne; brother, Donnie Summers and his wife Celia of Gibsonville; nieces and nephews, Tim Summers, Lynn Summers, Tami Casey, Lisa Cook, Debbie Wilson, Bubba Summers, Sandy Boone and Cheryl Yeatts; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Green and her husband Otis of Reidsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert, Ervin, Ray and Billy Summers.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Apple's Chapel Christian Church by Rev. C. Allen Myers III, Rev. Don Ledbetter and Rev. Joe West with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to ARMC Cancer Center, 1240 Huffman Mill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
