Elizabeth “Betty” Staley Neese WHITSETT — Elizabeth “Betty” Anne Staley Neese, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at the Hospice Home. She was born in Guilford County to the late John Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Shoffner Staley and was the wife of 51 years to the late James Grier Neese.
Betty was a lifelong member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ. She was an EMT for the Mt. Hope Fire Department and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a leader in the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was a loving “Grandmother” to many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son, Roger Neese and wife Diane of Whitsett; daughter, Lorie Arrington of Whitsett; her adopted daughter, Marta Cobrecé of Barcelona, Spain; grandchildren, Stephanie Wyrick, Colby Arrington and Jacob Arrington; great grandchildren, Ashton Wyrick and Ayden Wyrick; stepgrandchildren, Tracy Murrell and Stephanie Knight; greatstepgrandchildren, Taylor Kivett, Kendall Knight and Cameron Knight; brothers, John Staley and wife Beverly, J.D. Staley and wife Margie; sister, Marie Linnens and husband
G.A. and many other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Mt. Hope UCC by the Rev. Lloyd Spencer with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her daughter’s home.
