BURLINGTON - Mrs. Laura “Nookie” Tickle Gates, 85, of Burlington, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at her home.
A native of Alamance County, Mrs. Gates was the wife of the late Robert Lee Gates and the daughter of the late James Monroe Tickle and the late Rosa Belle McIntyre Tickle.
Mrs. Gates retired from Glen Raven Mills.
Mrs. Gates is survived by her daughter, Robin Gates, of the home; two sons, Robert Terry Gates of Mebane and Randall Lee Gates of the home; one granddaughter, Jordan Gates; a brother, Garland Tickle (Bernice) of Elon; three step-daughters, Linda Parks, Janet Jimenez and Sharon McInroy.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Gates was preceded in death by two sisters, Polly Fargis and Bertha Murray and two brothers, “Piddle” Tickle and Clyde Tickle.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 3, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington.
Other times they will be at the residence.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
