J. M. Tickle
ALTAMAHAW -- James Monroe Tickle, 72, of Altamahaw died at his home last night at 10:30 o'clock after six months of failing health and one week of critical illness.
Anative of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Jeff Tickle and Jane Shepherd Tickle. He was a member of Lodge No. 353, Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rosa McIntyre Tickle of the home; three sons, Clyde Vernon Tickle and Marvin James Tickle, both of Altamahaw, and Garland U. Tickle of Elon College; three daughters, Miss Bertha Tickle and Miss Anne Laurie Tickle, both of the home, and Mrs. E. P. Fargis of Altamahaw; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Pendergraph of Haw River and Mrs. W. K. Jordan of Greensboro; and 11 grandchildren.
Final rites will be held at Bethlehem United Church of Christ here tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock. The service will be conducted by Rev. Charles Beil, pastor, Rev. Clyde Shelton, pastor of Altamahaw Penticostal Hilliness Church, and Rev. Frank Haith Jr., pastor of Altamahaw Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The body will remain at Burke Funeral Home in Burlington intil taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the sevice. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, and the family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock.
