Wilton Chandler Finch

GRAHAM – Mr. Wilton Chandler Finch, age 84, of Graham, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Cone Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in New Orleans, LA, he was the son of the late William Jones Finch and the late Mildred Chandler Finch and was married for over 43 years to Mrs. Ann Sharpe Finch, who survives.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a paratrooper and served with the Special Forces. Wilton was a graduate of Auburn University and was a true “War Eagle”. He retired from Burlington Industries with over 30 years of service and then later was employed with D & G Dyes in Greenville, SC for several years. He was a member of Union Ridge Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, helped form the Helping Hands Committee and received the Father of the Year award. Wilton was a Master Mason and a Shriner, where he served with the “Fire Brigade”. He volunteered with the Caring Kitchen for over 22 years and also with the Cancer Center at ARMC, along with helping with Feed the Hunger, and going on several church mission trips. He was a licensed pilot and flew with the Civil Air Patrol. When Wilton was not serving others he was an avid golfer and enjoyed motorcycling.

Mr. Finch is survived by his wife of the home; five children, Al Mann and wife, Robin, Susan McKeown and husband, Mark, Len Mann and wife, Karen, Belinda Lloyd and husband, Roger and Ann Lee and husband, Allen; thirteen grandchildren, Bobby, Lee (Karla), Brandy (Josh), Taylor, Haley, Mikayla, Tristan, Maggie, Jack, Ben, Brandon, Kamdyn and Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Megan and Melissa; and a greatgrandson, William.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Union Ridge Church by Rev. Dan Ficklin and Rev. James Rosser. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
