A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Levi Terrell and Sue Irene Tate Terrell, and the wife of the late Ralph Nathaniel Roney, Sr.

"Ron" Roney, Jr. of Burlington, Mrs. Roy (Vickie) Shepherd of Whitsett, Clyde "Buck" Roney and his wife, Donna, of Burlington, Mrs. Randy (Cheryl) Massey of Burlington, 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her brother, Clarence "Buddy" Terrell and his wife, Delores, of Burlington; sister-in-law, Mrs. Raymond (Shelby Jean) Terrell of Rockingham, N.C.; half brothers, Tommy Rae Terrell and his wife, Gayle, of Snow Camp, Danny McRay Terrell and his wife, Cathy, of Graham; half sisters, Mrs. Leon (Ellen) Porter of Burlington, Mrs. Danny Joe (Ruth) Wilson of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Victor Edison Terrell and his wife, Madeline, and Raymond Alfonzo Terrell; and stepsister, Mary Alice Terrell Yaya of New York.
Thelma was a devout Christian, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a senior member of Glencoe Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Adult Sunday school Class. She worked for many years at the Plaid Mill and was manager of a local laundromat and was a homemaker. After her husband’s death, she enjoyed the continued fellowship of the Associated Transport Teamsters Union #391, her new friends at the Willows Apartments and her church family. She was an avid fan of Atlanta Braves Baseball and attended many of the local Burlington Indians games where she enjoyed the friendship of many fans. Her greatest joy in life was fellowship with friends and family, and she loved cooking for them. Her families’ fondest memories will be of the traveling, cruising and camping excursions with their mother.
We, the family would like to give a special thanks to the Cardiology Department and Dr. Michael Blazing at Duke University Medical Center for the wonderful care that they gave to our mother. Also, to all the wonderful nurses and CNA’s with Home Health Care of Burlington and the Hospice Homes.
