Vickie Roney Shepherd, 76, of Whitsett passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Burlington following several years of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the loving wife of Roy Lee Shepherd, who survives and the daughter of Ralph Nathaniel Roney, Sr. and Thelma Terrell Roney, both deceased. She was formerly employed at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Vickie was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church. She loved traveling, taking cruises, camping, family vacations, and spoiling her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, survivors include five sons, Eddie Oliver (Patsy), Shawn Oliver (Kimberly), Kim Oliver (Kay), Scott Oliver (Jennifer), and Lee Shepherd, Jr.; 14 grandchildren, Ashton Oliver, Brent Oliver (Sally), Hannah Oliver, Hunter Oliver, Brock Oliver (Marisa), Brandon Oliver (Will), Harlie Oliver, Cody Oliver, Tanner Oliver (Savannah), Ethan Oliver, Zoey Oliver, Doug Shepherd (Rhonda), Brad Shepherd, and Kensley Shepherd; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Bennie Hall (Dean) of Holden Beach, NC and Cheryl Massey (Randy) of Burlington; and a brother, Ralph N. Roney, Jr. of Burlington. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Dawn Shepherd and brother, Clyde “Buck” Roney (Donna Hall Roney).
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. by Pastor Darrell Massey with the family receiving friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
