Clyde Thomas "Buck" Roney

BURLINGTON — Clyde Thomas "Buck" Roney, 61, of Garden Road, Burlington, joined his Heavenly Father suddenly, December 2, 2008.
A native of Alamance County, Buck was born on September 15, 1947, and was the son of the late Ralph Nathaniel Roney Sr. and the late Thelma Terrell Roney.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mrs. Donna Hall Roney of the residence; two children, Mrs. Tonya Roney Moore and her husband, Neil Moore, of Burlington, S/Sgt. Charles Thomas "Chuck" Roney, and his wife, Elizabeth Roney, of Burlington; four grandchildren, Beverly and Christopher Moore, Branden and Zachary Roney; four siblings, Mrs. Bennie Hall and her husband, Dean, of Holden Beach, Mr. Ralph Nathaniel Roney Jr. of Burlington, Mrs. Vickie Shepherd and her husband, Roy, of Whitsett, Mrs. Cheryl Massey and her husband, Randy, of Burlington; eight nephews and eight nieces.
Buck honorably served his country while in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. He loved his career in truck driving with Chandler Concrete, Carolina Tank Lines and as owner and operator of B and D Trucking.
He seldom missed watching a NASCAR race with his best friend and brother-in-law, "Old Man" Roy and was a huge Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan, but we think his favorite pastime was watching "The Price is Right". He never wanted to miss that. He loved spending time with his loving wife and family at his beach house. One of his favorite sayings was, "I love my beach house and my grandbabies".
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington, Thursday, December 4, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, in the Rich & Thompson Chapel. U.S. Marine Corps burial honors will be held at Alamance Memorial Park. When not at the funeral home, the family will be at the residence of Tonya and Neil Moore, 3805 Euliss Road, Burlington, N.C.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, Va. 22116 – 7023.
