George was the ninth of twelve children born to Ovanda Columbus Sr. and Georgia Anna (Dowda) Loy. He married Cora Mozelle Stout and they had six children: George Patterson Jr., James Otis, Betty Lou, Jeanette, Larry Lynn, and Dan.

GEORGE LOY SR. BURLINGTON
George Patterson Loy Sr., 88, of 3955 Dr. Pickett Road died Wednesday, March 18, 1992, at Central Piedmont Convalescent Center.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Friendship United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Alamance County, he was a retired heavy equipment operator.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Betty Loy Smith, Mrs. Jeanette Loy May, both of Burlington; sons, George P. Loy Jr., Larry Loy, Dan Loy, all of Burlington; sisters, Mrs. Margaret Coble of Burlington, Mrs. Thelma Holt of Graham; brother, the Rev. O.C. Loy Jr. of Lexington; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
The family will be at Rich & Thompson Mortuary 7-9 p.m. today, other times at the residence of Mrs. Betty Smith, 3973 Dr. Pickett Road.
