The Rev. Daniel Lee Miles
BURLINGTON — The Rev. Daniel “Danny” Lee Miles, age 69, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013. He was a native of Guilford County and the husband for 51 years to Linda Garrison Miles who survives.
Preacher Danny was the former pastor of Friendly Lane Baptist Church for over 31 years and was a current member. He loved and supported his pastor, Craig Cox, and his family. Pastor Miles attended Piedmont Bible College and spent seven years at Alamance Community College studying Spanish to enhance his ministry. Pastor Miles established the first independent Spanish Baptist Church in Alamance County and his heart’s desire was to reach people for the Lord. He also traveled to Mexico on a mission trip.
Preacher Danny helped coach baseball at Alamance Christian School for several years and he was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors. Preacher Danny was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda Garrison Miles of the home; daughter, Anita M. Robinson and husband, Brian of Snow Camp; sons, the Rev. Barry Daniel Miles and wife, Carol of Grover, N.C. and David Lee Miles and wife, Suzanne of Burlington; grandchildren, Nathan,
Caleb, Rebekah, Jacob and Joshua Miles, Andrew and Noah Robinson; mother, Edna Stanford Miles of Gibsonville; brother, Donald Otis Miles and wife, Carolyn of Burlington and sisters, Cherry M. Howe and husband, Carver of Burlington and Deborah “Susie” M. Allen and husband, Steve of Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felton Lee Miles.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Craig Cox and Pastor Chuck Perkins. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
