Mrs. Norma Troxler Simmons 
    ELON — Mrs. Norma Troxler Simmons , age 64, of 5730 Cherry Grove Road, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
    A native of Guilford County, she was wife of J. Douglas Simmons , and daughter of the late Frank Lewis Troxler  and Rena Walker Troxler  Underwood. She was a member of Concord Christian Church, the Women’s Fellowship, was secretary-treasurer of the Adult Sunday school class, and was a member of the Country Weavers. Mrs. Simmons  had been employed by Farm Bureau, Caswell Insurance Services, and Caswell County Chamber of Commerce.
    Mrs. Simmons  is survived by her husband J. Douglas Simmons  of the home; daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth "Beth" Kirby and husband, Tony, and Ms. Janice S. Franklin, all of Elon; four grandchildren, Claire Kirby, Ben Kirby, Gunner Franklin, and Carrie Kirby; brothers, Donald Troxler  and wife, Jean, and George "Tommy" Underwood and wife, Faye, all of Elon; sisters, Mrs. Betty Blanchard and husband, "Bill", of Burlington, Shelby Renshaw and husband, Jimmy, of High Point, and Mary Simmons  and husband, Dennis, of Elon; sister–inlaw, Shirley Underwood of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth Craig Simmons ; stepfather, Russell Underwood; and brother, Cleo Underwood.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the Concord Christian Church by the Rev. Keith Murray, and Dr. W.W. Snyder. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Simmons  will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 6 to 8 this evening.
