Obituary Online notes for Jennings Ingram CHANDLER Sr.
On Tuesday, July 22, 1902, another citizen was born into Pleasant Grove twp., Burlington, Alamance, North Carolina, USA where he lived all his life. His name was Jennings Ingram Chandler. John Ingram Chandler 1877-1922 and Emma Jane Chandler 1875-1959 were blessed with another son. He also had a big brother name Yancey Harrel. He lived in the same area all his life.

When he was 16 he worked with his father on his farm on Haw River Rd. Burlington, NC, along with his siblings, Harrel, Violet, Rose Lillian, Marvin and Annie K if they were old enough to help out.

December 14, 1923 Wedding Bells rang for Jennings Ingram Chandler and Verna 'Vernie' Mae Hadley, daughter of Jonathan William and Flora E. Andrews Hadley and they were blessed with seven children; Doris Mae, Florine Margaret, Jennings Ingram Jr., Nell Marie, Barbara Anne and Nancy Jane. A son, James Edwards went home to be with Jesus when he was 1 year and seven months old.

The highest grade Jennings had completed was his second year in High School, but he and Vernie made sure that every one of their children finished a four year college and they all finished with honors and were members of a Sorority.

In 1942, he registered for the World War II Draft at the age of 39. At that time he stated he owned N.C. Restaurant in Chapel Hill, Orange Co. NC.

Death came to Jennings Ingram Chandler Sr on Wednesday, May 7, 1958 at the age of 55. He was buried in Long's Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery, his home church in Burlington, NC.
