Obituary
Tony James Barber of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina passed away Friday December 10th at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City, NC. He was 62 at the time of his death. He is survived by his mother Clara Barber, wife Regina Barber and their children; daughter Abigail (Richard) Porter and their daughters Nora and Winter, son Daniel (Georgia) Vuncannon and their sons Grady Paul and Turner, daughter Kealy (Ashley) Parker and their children Briley, Violet and Lincoln; his sister Terry Barber, brother Brad (Dana) Barber and their sons Joshua and Joseph, his brother Rod (Tracie) Barber and their children Jeremy and Chelsea; his nephew R.J. Baker and niece Taylor Baker.
Tony was born in Alamance County, NC. He briefly attended Elon University before moving to Durham, NC. Tony started his own drywall company, Barber Drywall, before dissolving it and joining the sales team at Crossroads Ford in Cary, NC in 2000. He was one of the most successful salesmen in the dealership, loved his job and was loved by all who worked with him. That remained true for the following twenty-one years he stayed in the car business. At the time of his death he was the Commercial Accounts Manager for Crossroads Ford of Apex.
Tony enjoyed many hobbies, especially home projects. Whether it was painting his garage, planting flowers, pulling up old flooring or hanging photos, he loved making places feel like home. But above all, Tony enjoyed seeing his New York Yankees and UNC Tarheels play. He was such a big fan of both teams and anyone who met him would know that within moments.
Tony was a member of Hilltop Church where he was a cherished part of the community and will be terribly missed.
The funeral will be held at Hilltop Church (10212 Fayetteville, Rd. Fuquay Varina, NC 27526) on Thursday December 16th. An open visitation will run from 11am-12:30pm and the service will begin at 1pm followed by a burial service at Greenlawn Memorial Garden (1621 NC-55, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526).
