BURLINGTON – Carl Lloyd Mansfield, 83, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 21, 2018 at his home.
He was born on June 12, 1934 in Alamance County to the late Carl Eugene Mansfield and Ethel Lily Beckom Mansfield and was the husband to Doris Oakley Mansfield of 66 years who survives.
Lloyd retired after 45 years with Burlington Industries. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and attended Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church. Lloyd started volunteering in 1966 with the Faucette Fire Department and was very active till his retirement in 1989.
Survivors other than his wife, Doris Oakley Mansfield include his sons, Gary Mansfield and wife, Cheryl, Doug Mansfield and wife, Kate; grandsons, Jonathan Mansfield and Logan Mansfield; sister, Hilda M. Duckworth and husband, Ted; brothersin-law, Jake Oakley and wife, Helen, Gene Oakley and wife, Joyce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Louise M. Kellis; sister-in-law, Pat Byrd and brothers-in-law, Clyde, Tom and Hubert Oakley.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Alamance Memorial Park by Elder David Underwood.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday night at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
