Doris Oakley Mansfield, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 23, 2024, at her residence in Burlington.
She was born in Caswell County and was the daughter of the late James Lundy Oakley and the late Viola Kimbro Oakley.
Doris was a homemaker and took great care of her family in all aspects. She was married for 66 years before her husband’s death, Carl Lloyd Mansfield, in 2018. She was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed greatly by her family. Doris loved to shop at her favorite place, KMart. She was a lifetime member of Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons: Gary Mansfield and wife, Cheryl, and Douglas Mansfield and wife, Kate, all of Burlington; grandsons: Jonathan and Logan Mansfield.
Along with her husband and parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brothers: Clyde Oakley, Tom Oakley, Hubert Oakley, Jake Oakley, Eugene Oakley and her sister, Mattie “Pat” Byrd.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Alamance Memorial Park Chapel by Rev. Mark Mitchell with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday evening, September 25, 2024, at Lowe Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers who took care of Mom in her final months. Your kindness and compassion will forever be appreciated. We also want to thank Gentiva Hospice for all their help and support.
