Mrs. Ginger Gail Stratton Somers
GREENSBORO — Mrs. Ginger Gail Stratton Somers of 5115-B Lawndale Drive, died at
2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Beacon Place, 2502 Summit Ave., Greensboro,
after an illness of 15 months.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. John Daniel Somers, who
survives, and the daughter of Mr. Melvin Reaves Stratton and Mrs. Martha Ellen Sharpe
Stratton, both deceased. She was a retired registered nurse, having worked at N.C. Baptist
Hospital I Winstown-Salem, Alamance County Hospital in Burlington, Moses H. Cone
Hospital Fellowship Hall and Carolina Kidney Association, all in Greensboro. She was a
member of Brandt Oaks Baptist Church in Greensboro. She was a 1954 graduate of
Williams High School in Burlington and a 1958 graduate of North Carolina Baptist School
of Nursing in Winston-Salem.
Survivors other than her husband of the home and parents of Burlington include a sister,
Mrs. Ray (Sherrill) Pennell of Cherryville; and a brother, Mr. Roger Stratton of
Greensboro.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glen Hope Baptist Church by the
Rev. W. Ray Pennell and the Rev. Terry Pritchard. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial
Park.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening,
and at other times at the home of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin S. Stratton, 1334
Graham St., Burlington.
