Daniel A. May

North Manchester, IN –

Daniel A. May, 89, formerly of Gibsonville, passed away on December 31, 2022 at Timbercrest Senior Living in Indiana. 

He was born in Guilford County and was the son of the late Robert D. and Beulah Mae King May. 

He was an avid fisherman and woodworker. Daniel was the owner and operator of May’s Bait and Tackle for several years.  He was a former member of Gibsonville Christian Church and attended Bippus United Church of Christ in Indiana.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Lynn May (Shirley); daughter, Vicki May Holmes; grandchildren, Robert Monroe May (Jennifer), Carrie May Sowards (Casey), Andrew May, Jeffrey May, Jr., Jared Holmes (Katie) and Michael Holmes (Chelsea); great grandchildren, Brantley, Kennedy and Harper Holmes, Jessie and Gracie Sowards; stepchildren, Jo Joyce Wyatt (Don), Dennis Purdy, Sharon Fruitt (Randy), Gary Purdy (Rosie); 18 step grandchildren; and 20 step great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wives, Vivian Elizabeth Wicker May and Dorothy Cripe Purdy May; parents; and siblings, Virginia May Morgoupis, Peggy May Ray and Robert Monroe May.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mike Mitchener with burial to follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 9:45-10:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.256, Daniel A. May
