Mrs. Freida Diana Winters Mathis, age 53, of Mathis Farm Road, Roaring River died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at her home.
Funeral services will be held Friday 2:00 PM, October 2, 2009 at Cranberry Baptist Church with Rev. Victor Church and Rev. David Wellborn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Thursday from 6 until 8.
Mrs. Mathis was born December 9, 1955 in Wake County to Fred and Alice Hughes Winters. She worked for the Wilkes County Sheriff Department as Sergeant for women's detention. Mrs. Mathis was a member of Cranberry Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Phillip Fred Winters, Jr. and Nathaniel Zane Winters.
She is survived by: her husband, Gary Claude Mathis of the home; one son, Joshua Claude Mathis and wife, Tiffany of Roaring River; one granddaughter, Kyley Elizabeth Mathis; her mother, Alice Hughes Hill and husband, Wayne of Clayton, NC; two sisters, Phyllis Coats and husband, Ben, Susan Hope Deans and husband, Luther all of Clayton, NC; one brother, Paul Connor Winters and wife, Arlene of Clayton, NC. 470, Sgt Freida Winters Mathis
