Ira Bush "Chug" McKinney
REIDSVILLE — Ira Bush "Chug" McKinney, 97, of 3367 N.C. 150, Reidsville, N.C., died Friday, March 7, 2008, at Avante of Reidsville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Citty Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Joe Bush and Lula Mae Somers McKinney and had lived in the Williamsburg community most of his life. Mr. Chug was a retired tobacco farmer, a member of the Williamsburg Wildlife Club, and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brona Stadler McKinney; a son, Ira Vernon McKinney; and an infant daughter, Geraldine Beatrice McKinney.
Surviving are three sons, J. Arlen McKinney and wife, Sandy, of Richmond, Va., Wayne B. McKinney and wife, Sylvia, of Martinsville, Va. and James Garland McKinney and wife, Shirley, of Reidsville; two daughters, Margie M. Burton of Burlington and Wilson M. Ashley and husband, Alfred, of Reidsville; 30 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family will see friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m. Sunday at Citty Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
