Margie Elizabeth McKinney Burton

FEBRUARY 1, 1930 ~ MARCH 24, 2019 (AGE 89)

Mrs. Margie Elizabeth McKinney Burton, age 89, formerly of Burlington, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Beacon Place in Greensboro after several months of failing health.
     Born in Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late Ira Bush “Chug” McKinney and the late Brona Elizabeth Stadler McKinney and was married to the late Lester Bradsher Burton, who passed in 2004.  She retired from Regal Laundry after 30 years of service and was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church.  She was a very loving mother and grandmother.
     Mrs. Burton is survived by her daughter, Barbara Burton Sessoms and husband, Terry, of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Tonia (Mark) Keimig, Brooke Burton and fiancé, Anthony, Charles Christopher (Suzanne) Allen and Kerry (Sarah) Burton; nine great grandchildren, Sierra Jacobs, Hannah Keimig, Dazya Cheek, Makayla Burton, Lauren Keimig, Hailey Burton, River Allen, Stephen Keimig and Harper Keimig; two brothers, Arlen McKinney and James Garland McKinney; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Burton.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Ronnie Lester Burton; two brothers, Vernon McKinney and Wayne McKinney; and two sisters, Wilson Ashley and Geraldine McKinney.
     The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bill Gillispie, Sr.  Interment will follow at Baynes Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Tonia Keimig.
